This book, by historian and researcher Richard M. Dolan, focuses on the most important area of the UFO phenomena - the cover up. Endorsed by such people as former astronaut Edgar Mitchell and UFO Magazine editor Don Ecker, this 478-page book is carefully indexed and profusely footnoted.

More a factual history than a vehicle designed to convince you of the authors own theories, this book is not only excellent for its careful documentation of facts concerning UFOs, but for its profound disclosure of government lies, spin, disinformation and coverup.

This book is an incredible piece of work and also a good read for anyone interested in the national security apparatus and how it works to control public opinion.

Steven M. Greer has gotten closer to the heart of the matter than anyone writing on the subject of UFOs and extraterrestrial life today. He has interviewed literally hundreds of eyewitnesses, military personnel, airline pilots, traffic control engineers and many high-ranking government officials.

A lifetime member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the nation's most prestigious medical honor society, and former chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in North Carolina, Greer left his secure lifestyle as a physician to devote his time to try to force open congressional hearings on the UFO coverup.

I included this book because it represents two of the first books published by a reputable journalist on the subject of UFOs. "Interrupted Journey" was given to me as a gift at age 15, and I have been following the subject ever since. The story of Betty and Barney Hill was one of the first published stories of credible witnesses to an abduction experience. It has probably been scrutinized more than any other UFO story and, in my mind, still holds its weight, although many UFO researchers would disagree.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Hill story is the map shown to Betty Hill by an extraterrestrial (which she redrew under hypnosis) showing their planet of origin related to our sun and other planets. The alien's planet from Betty Hill's drawing, was located, in 1973, near two stars, Zeta1 Reticuli and Zeta2 Reticuli by psychology and science scholar Marjorie Fish, after painstakingly putting together a suspended model that could be approached and verified from any angle - a project that spanned six years of research. Fish's unique three-dimensional model of the near stars is now being used by the Astronomy Department at Ohio State University at Perkins Observatory in Delaware, Ohio. It is also interesting that Zeta1 Reticuli has become one of the top 100 target stars for NASA's planned Terrestrial Planet Finder, planned for launch between 2014 and 2020.

One of the most controversial books in print today, "The Day After Roswell" is the account of former U.S. Army intelligence officer, Colonel Philip Corso.

Colonel Corso was in charge of the Foreign Technology desk in the US Army's Research and Development division at the Pentagon for a number of years. His job was to evaluate advanced weapons systems and foreign technology, advancing relevant data to government contractors for reverse engineering. In the course of his duties, Corso claims he handled information from downed alien spacecraft that led to integrated circuits for computers, fiber optics, advanced night vision technology and lasers.

Although Corso's claims have been disputed by many, one has to ponder why this highly-decorated intelligence officer, at 80 years of age, would subject himself to public criticism and ridicule just to make a few bucks. Critics say there were transistor patents in place dating back to the late 1940's. The fact is, although these patents were instigated, technology had not advanced sufficiently to implement the theories these patents were founded on.

The debate goes on, but it must be considered why this Army Colonel, with a long history (dating back to World War II) of "doing what's right" regardless of the cost, would suddenly, near the end of his life, decide to fictionalize the truth.

Stanton T. Friedman received BS and MS degrees in physics from the University of Chicago in 1955 and 1956. He was employed for 14 years as a nuclear physicist for such companies as GE, GM, Westinghouse, TRW Systems, Aerojet General Nucleonics, and McDonnell Douglas on such advanced, classified, eventually cancelled, projects as nuclear aircraft, fission and fusion rockets, and nuclear power plants for space.

I met Mr. Friedman in 1991, when I discovered he was giving a presentation just two blocks from my house on the Gonzaga University campus in Spokane, Washington. His presentation consisted mostly of photographic slide after slide of pages of "declassified" government documents concerning UFO sitings and investigations. The majority of the pages were black - covered up and still classified, with, perhaps, a sentence or paragraph here or there showing. This was certainly evidence that the government considered UFOs as something more than "swamp gas", or any of the other, often as ridiculous, explanations that have been given as "official" record.

I hung around until most had left and, as Stanton was packing up his materials, I riddled him with questions concerning various UFO theories. What impressed me the most about his answers was his non-committment; his refusal to speculate. This is a man who deals with facts and leaves the theorizing to others. Stanton Friedman's research and integrity are impeccable.

This is a newer edition of Friedman's original book. Ufologist and reported abductee Whitley Strieber joins him in this new edition.

Dr. Roger Leir and his surgical team have surgically removed metallic implants from several patients. The implants are surrounded with a substance composed of the patients own hemoglobin that, though flexible, cannot be cut with a surgeon's scalpel. It is theorized that this substance protects the implant from being rejected by the body.

The implants consist of metals that are not indigenous to this planet, although they can be found here, in areas where meteorites have crashed into the earth. The objects have been scientifically investigated by some of the most prestigious laboratories in the world such as Los Alamos National Labs, New Mexico Tech, and the University of California at San Diego.

If you are looking for hard evidence of intrusions from outer space, this is about as close as you can get! Many of these patients, under hypnosis, have revealed experiences of alien abduction.

Many more times important than Roswell, because it happened recently, is the story of a UFO crash in Varginha, Brazil. What is really astounding is that this appears to be the only book on the subject available in English. Replete with eyewitnesses, live aliens, and a Brazilian soldier dead of multiple mysterious infections, this is an important story that has gained little media attention outside of Brazil. UFO investigators have interviewed several witnesses, but cannot reveal their identities for fear of government retribution.

I have not read this book, but I would say that chances are good that it produces no smoking gun. What we do know is this:

• The Brazilian government and local officials are trying hard to say that nothing happened where it is factually obvious to say that something did.
• There was military and police activity in wooded areas around Varginha over a span of several days, where various witnesses claim having seen aliens, heard gunfire, and seen military personnel carrying something out of the woods in large plastic bags.
• A military policeman died of unknown toxicity after reported physical contact with an alien. The military says he was not even on duty that day. His family tells a different story. A doctor who treated him has publicly talked about the strangeness of his illness.
• One eyewitness claims to have seen an alien in the evening at the local zoo. The next morning, several previously healthy zoo animals were found dead. Cause of death was attributed to unexplained sudden toxicity of unknown origin.

Rumors were that the government originally did not deny the story and that the Brazilian president proclaimed that he would reveal all government files on UFO incidents. However, I have found nothing to substantiate these rumors, and, clearly, the government appears to have done nothing but the opposite. Still, it is a very interesting story, and I am sure we will hear more about it in the years to come, but don't expect a definitive answer.

From this point, the story gets stranger than fiction. He tells of associations with space program heavyweights Wernher von Braun and Arthur Rudolph, ventures into top-secret base Area 51, being shown an alien spacecraft, testing and them destroying his rocket, being retained at the base, and saved by LeMay from unknown doom.

I am very familiar with Adair's story, although I have not seen this DVD. His story is rather hard to believe, but I haven't seen a factual discounting of it yet. Given his status in the space industry, and the fact that he willingly appeared before a closed congressional committee to tell his story, I have to accept it at face value.

David, along with Steven Greer and others, is currently working to force open congressional hearings that will grant covert operatives total immunity from their national security oaths.
